Jewish Learning at BJC 5782 (2021-2022)

What if Jewish learning started as- and remained-an exciting, satisfying part of your life's journey from early childhood through old age?

What if your participation in a vibrant, warm, caring Jewish community both deepened your roots in Jewish tradition and helped you engage meaningfully in the wider world?

Bethesda Jewish Congregation is not your typical synagogue. It's more than a synagogue, it's a community. Where we meet, who our members are, what we learn, and how we celebrate, all add up to a Jewish communal experience that will enrich your life in ways you have never experienced before. Where else could you experience a pandemic Shofar service outside the building with the rabbi blasting the notes and a parking lot full of cars responding in kind? Where else could a building house a church, a synagogue, and a mosque, coming together for a Thanksgiving service as well as mutual learning opportunities?

We are unique!

For Our Youngest Members

Jewish learning takes place both inside the classroom and through participation in a series of culminating special special events. Each month, the emphasis is on a primary Jewish value and other related values. This academic year, those primary values include pursuing justice, protecting nature, connecting generations, and others.

Kitah V'Khug (Class and Club) serves our students K-6 grades

Throughout the year, the Rabbi conducts several classes on various topics such as: The Jewish Influence on Broadway, Jewish Gangsters, The Jewish Way of Death and Mourning, and Jewish Witness to European history.

Additionally, we bring interesting speakers to the congregation, such as the 2020 presentation by Integrity First for America on "Taking White Supremacy to Court: The Charlottesville Case."
