Mahjongg at BJC

The Art of Marc Chagall

Join BJC online for a fascinating presentation on THE ART OF MARC CHAGALL, led by Jewish Art Education. THE ART OF MARC CHAGALL is a survey of the life and art of this quintessential Jewish artist. From paintings to prints to stained glass and tapestries, Chagall created an amazing world of fantasy and reality. See why this painting, I AND THE VILLAGE was so important to him and to the world! Selichot- Film and Service
Shabbat, Sep 28th 6:00p to 10:00p
The month of Elul is a time of soul-searching and reflection to prepare oneself for the Days of Awe. Part of this preparation includes the recitation of Selichot. In Hebrew, selichot translates to “forgiveness”. The Selichot for High Holy Days are Jewish penitential poems and prayers, with the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy playing a central role. Join BJC in the Lounge at 6:00 PM for a film viewing of "A Serious Man", an Oscar nominated Coen brothers film that shows Larry Gopnik, a Midwestern physics teacher, watches his life unravel over multiple sudden incidents. Though seeking meaning and answers amidst his turmoils, he seems to keep sinking. A dairy dinner will be served. After the film, join Rabbi Abbott in Covenant Hall at 8 PM as we recite Selichot and change our Torah covers to the High Holy Day white.

Tashlich
Thursday, Oct 3rd 12:45p to 2:30p
After Rosh Hashanah services, join us in Memorial Hall for a light lunch followed by an uplifting Tashlich service. During Tashlich, we symbolically cast off the sins of the previous year by tossing bread crumbs into flowing water. Family Services will take place directly after Tashlich. Please RSVP so we can plan for lunch.
