"The Turbulent Middle East: Israel's Challenges and Opportunities" at American University

American University’s Center for Israel Studies and The American Israeli Cooperative Enterprise (AICE) are pleased to invite you to our third annual academic conference. This year's conference will address "The Turbulent Middle East: Israel's Challenges and Opportunities." The conference will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011, at American University's Mary Graydon Center in Washington, DC. Nine of Israel’s leading scholars will address topics covering "Israel as a Model of Democracy," "Israel's Imperfect Democracy" and "Israel's Security Amidst the Mideast Turmoil." The participating professors are all part of AICE’s Visiting Israeli Scholars Program. AICE Executive Director Mitchell Bard will give the keynote address: "The Arab Lobby's Impact on U.S. Policy Toward the 'Arab Spring.'" Free to the public; continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. This conference is made possible with the support of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation.
